DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - DEVOPS

As a Database Administrator within DevOps, you will be responsible for designing, installing, configuring, administering, and monitoring database management software to offer high availability and optimal service to users..

Detailed Description
• Foster new ideas based on technology trends to constantly improve the quality of our services;
• Promptly address incidents, document problems and resolution for future reference, and improve quality of service;
• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database and application software by proposing specifications and flowcharts, recommending optimum access techniques, and coordinating installation requirements;
• Evaluate software/patches and perform testing before implementation to ensure that assigned applications and related systems function appropriately;
• Monitor all aspects of system performance including databases, and application servers;
• Manage the design and deployment of business-critical databases to ensure security and availability;
• Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications;
• Automate database activities by writing necessary scripts;
• Ensure the security of the entire production system architecture and supporting instances and environments;
• Work closely with the IT Security Team for users’ management and perform audit and security checks to adhere to compliance procedures;
• Assist developers in the performance and tuning of SQL statements;
• Identify and tune poorly performing SQL;
• Define operational procedures and create system documentation whilst keeping existing procedures and configuration documents up to date;
• Document each implementation/problem and resolution for future reference;
• Prepare Database Reports based on management requirements;
• Interface with providers for technical issue resolution;
• Assist in the implementation and testing of the Disaster Recovery solution for business continuity.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or any related field;
• At least 2 years’ work experience in system design and implementation of systems and software;
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux-based environments;
• Knowledge of Oracle/SQL database, related utilities, and tools;
• Knowledge of RedHat Linux, IBM AIX, Solaris, and Oracle;
• Knowledge of Oracle backup, patching, and recovery scenarios;
• A good knowledge of the physical database design and familiarity with database design & multi- schemas;
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux Environments;
• Experience in installing and configuring Golden Gate replication;
• Proven results-oriented person with a focus on delivery;
• Analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to communicate with a wide range of people and concerned stakeholders..
